We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller to join our growing team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of a high growth robotics startup. Position Overview: As the Controller at Vatn, you will be responsible for managing our financial operations, developing financial policies, and staying compliant with audits and investors. You will collaborate directly with the executive team to help Vatn rapidly grow. This is a full-time in-office with some WFH flexibility in Bristol, Rhode Island. Responsibilities:Financial Management:Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, billing, and financial reporting.Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the executive team and investors.Manage cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditures to ensure the financial stability of the company.Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and the audit committee.Operational Efficiency:Implement and manage accounting software and financial systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency.Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.Compliance and Risk Management:Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controls and risk management strategies.Maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, investors, and regulatory agencies. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in Accounting or Finance, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment.Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) desired.Knowledge of government contract billing and invoicing procedures.Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.Experience with accounting software and financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar).Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
