Our firm has a reputation for impeccable client service, getting to know our clients and advocating zealously on their behalf.JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a Managing Attorney with at least 15 years of experience in all aspects of plaintiff’s personal injury cases from inception to settlement or trial. Although trial experience is not required, litigation and management experience are a must. The Managing Attorney handles their own portfolio of 50-75 plaintiff’s personal injury cases from inception to settlement or trial, with support from an experienced team of paralegals. In addition to their own caseload, the Managing Attorney is responsible for overseeing the firm’s entire case inventory to ensure matters are moving and milestones are being met. The role requires demonstrated management experience, good judgment, and strong analytical and communication skills. RESPONSIBILITIES:Represent clients in personal injury cases, including but not limited to construction accidents and workplace injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and slip and falls.Personally manage a portfolio of 50-75 cases from intake to trial including: new case screenings, deposition prep, review and finalize pleadings, motions, case “work up”, retaining appropriate experts, 3101d disclosures, make and oppose summary judgment motions.Oversee entire firm inventory of cases, monitoring work performed by a team of junior attorneys and support staff to ensure cases progress efficiently and on schedule, developing clear, actionable plans and providing straightforward, detailed instructions to facilitate expeditious resolution of cases and ensure smooth operations.Conduct regular case list meetings to ensure cases are moving and case milestones are being met. Provide feedback and input to the team on best path for the firm’s cases and then track individual follow through and workflows performed by the team.Utilize CLOUDLEX to monitor cases and take appropriate action to overcome any potential challenges and avoid delays.Maintain open and effective communication with clients, providing them with updates and guidance throughout the legal process. QUALIFICATIONS:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Active membership in the state bar and in good standing.Minimum of 15 years of experience handling all aspects of plaintiff’s personal injury cases including construction/Labor Law cases (with the exception of trials). REQUIREMENTS:Demonstrated experience independently managing a high caseload with exceptional organizational skills.Proven ability to expedite consequential, 7-figure cases from intake through discovery and to the trial calendar or mediations.Must possess strong knowledge of CPLR and local rules.Familiarity with NYSCEF.Strong analytical, negotiation, and litigation skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Management experienceTrial experience not required but a plus.Proficiency in speaking Spanish is a plus. This role places a great deal of trust and responsibility in the Managing Attorney and will be compensated accordingly. We offer a generous compensation package with a base salary starting at $200,000 a year and health benefits. In addition to the base salary, compensation also includes 5% of the firm’s net legal fee for portfolio cases handled by the Managing Attorney, 40% referral rate for any originations, and performance bonus opportunities. Generous performance contribution bonuses paid on cases outside portfolio under appropriate circumstances.
